Little was started in 2011 by owner and designer, Annette Griesel, in Bloemfontein, South Africa.
Being a mom herself, Annette is very passionate about staying true to the heart of Little. We love sharing our story and passion, so here is what the heart of Little is about:
All our embroidery is done by hand, we do not own any embroidery machines and rather employ local women to do our embroidery by hand.
By doing all our design elements – crochet work, screen printing and embroidery by HAND, we are able to teach our employees a new skill and thus not only empower them by having a job, but also by teaching them a valuable skill that fewer and fewer people are able to do.
We use knitting mills in South Africa to weave our materials for us, this is more expensive than importing sub-standard materials, but we rather pay more and support South African economy.
Our clients are the babies who wear our garments and we know that every mom only wants the best for her baby. They cannot speak yet, so we don’t want them to cry…that’s why we only use the softest natural fibers and do not put size tags in the “neck” of our garments.
